At 215 Hackney, our community is at the heart of everything we do. Back in 2020, during a time when people couldn’t gather with loved ones, we noticed many, especially the elderly, had nowhere to go and felt isolated. So, we opened our doors on Christmas Day to start the Christmas Initiative at 215 Hackney to offer hot food and drinks, bringing warmth and happiness to those who needed it most during this challenging time.
During that first Christmas Initiative at 215 Hackney in 2020, we realised how much of a difference to our community we can make, which inspired us to continue supporting our local area through different initiatives such as our “Cooking for NHS” programme where we delivered over 6,500 meals for the NHS staff, as well as our soup kitchen which provided food for the less fortunate.
Once cafes began reopening and we were once again able to join one another for a hot meal, we wanted to find a way to continue this beautiful holiday tradition. Now, each Christmas Day, we invite our community to come together for a hot drink and delicious homemade 215 Hackney cakes completely free. These past few years we had many people join us from our local community and visitors from all around London wanting to support the cause.
This year, just like every other year, we invite you to come by to our 215 Hackney Christmas Intiative for a free treat and join us in this beautiful tradition. If you want to spread the Christmas cheer even more, we will also be accepting donations to the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity. We all know that Christmas is the time of giving so we would love to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
From all of us at 215 Hackney, we wish you a happy holiday season and look forward to celebrating the spirit of the community together, now and for years to come.
