215's Guide to Hackney
(Summer Edition)

Summer is arguably the best season all around (though some may disagree), but nowhere is summer quite as special as in Hackney. It’s not just the warm weather it’s the sense of community that it brings out. Summer in Hackney feels like a reminder of why we love this place. So grab an iced americano and a pastry and enjoy our list of the best places to be during summer in Hackney.

1- Church Street

Church Street truly comes alive during the summer months, becoming arguably the heart of Hackney. With its vibrant mix of independent shops, bakeries, and bustling cafes, it’s a place where you’re bound to spot a few familiar faces. The street’s lively atmosphere is the local community, who gather to enjoy the sunshine, support small businesses, and catch up with friends.

Being just a few minutes away from 215, it’s our go-to spot when we want to visit our neighbours, pop into our favourite stores, or simply take a leisurely stroll. Whether we’re picking up a freshly baked treat, browsing the unique boutiques, or just soaking in the atmosphere, Church Street never fails to remind us why we love being part of this vibrant neighbourhood.

2- Clissold Park

Strolling down Church Street, you’ll soon find yourself at Clissold Park, a beloved green space where locals gather to unwind after a long day at work. As you step into the park, you’re greeted by lush greenery, scenic lakes, and more dog walkers and joggers than you’ve ever seen.

During the summer months, Clissold Park truly comes into its own, buzzing with life as families, friends, and neighbours come together to soak up the sun. Whether it’s picnicking on the grass or just sitting by the lakeside watching the world go by, it’s no wonder that half of Hackney flocks here to make the most of the rare, sunny evenings. The park’s vibrant atmosphere and natural beauty make it the perfect spot to connect to the community.

3- Abney Park

Only a minute’s walk from our cafe, Abney Park is a capsule of memories and history, perfectly capturing the essence of our area. Once one of London’s magnificent seven cemeteries, it now serves as a nature reserve and community space. Known for its overgrown charm, Gothic architecture, and tranquil walking paths, it’s a peaceful retreat from the bustle of our city.

As you wander through the winding trails, you’ll encounter a diverse array of wildlife and the scattered memorials, each telling a story of Hackney’s locals. Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot to unwind or simply exploring the local heritage, Abney Park never fails to inspire.
